At Halo, we are deeply moved by the generosity and kindness of our community. Every donation, no matter how small, has the power to change a child’s life, provide comfort to a family in crisis, and offer hope during difficult times. Your support helps us create care packages that deliver more than essentials, they deliver warmth, hope and dignity.
Clothing
We accept new and pre-loved clothing for children aged 0-18 years old. These items provide more than just warmth, they help children and teens feel confident, loved, and cared for.
To make it easier for us to include your donations in care packages quickly, we kindly ask that all items are freshly washed before donating. Pre-loved clothing should be in excellent condition—no holes, stains, or signs of heavy wear. Think of it this way: if you wouldn’t dress your own child in it, it likely isn’t suitable for donation. Socks and underwear must be brand new for hygiene reasons, but we’re always grateful for these essential items.
While we receive many baby and toddler clothes, we often struggle to find clothing for children aged three and above, especially for teenagers. Teen-sized clothing can truly make a difference in helping older children feel confident and included.
Toys and Cuddly Friends
We know how much joy a toy can bring to a child, especially during tough times. While we don’t accept pre-loved plastic toys, we warmly welcome cuddly toys for babies and children.
Every care package that we send out has an age-appropriate book and includes a cuddly friend, whether new or pre-loved. These soft companions bring comfort, smiles, and a sense of security to the children we support.
Equipment
For parents of little ones, the right equipment can be a lifeline. We accept baby essentials such as high chairs, bouncers, rockers, baby baths, prams, play mats and baby blankets. Pre-loved sterilisers are also welcome, but breast pumps must be new or unopened for hygiene and safety reasons.
While we cannot accept car seats due to strict safety regulations, every item you donate makes a tangible impact on a family’s life. These essentials can ease the burden for parents and ensure children have what they need to thrive.
Furniture
Every child deserves a safe and comfortable place to sleep. That’s why we accept cots, cribs, and toddler beds. These items are always in high demand, especially for babies without a secure sleeping space.
We kindly ask that cots and cribs are in good condition, but for safety reasons, we cannot accept cot mattresses. However, we can accept toddler bed mattresses and bedding. There’s something so special about seeing a child’s face light up when they receive bedding featuring their favourite Disney characters—it’s the little things that bring the biggest smiles.
Books
At Halo, we believe in the magic of stories. Every child deserves the joy of a bedtime tale, the excitement of turning the pages, and the warmth of a story shared.
That’s why we include a book in every care package. Your donations of new or pre-loved books allow us to share that magic with every child we support. These aren’t just stories—they’re moments of connection, comfort, and escape for children facing challenges.
Toiletries
Personal care items may seem small, but they make a big difference in the lives of those we help. For children, we accept unopened toiletries such as toothpaste, nappies, lotions, body washes, and creams. For parents, we welcome donations of shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, hygiene products, and other basic essentials.
By donating toiletries, you’re helping families maintain their dignity and care for themselves during difficult times. These items are often overlooked but are truly invaluable.
How to Donate
If you’re unsure about what items you can donate, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us, your item might just be the one we need for a care package.
Donate at Halo
You can book a time to drop off donations at our offices in Inverness or Alness. This helps us ensure we’re ready to accept and sort your generous contributions.
Donate at the Eastgate Shopping Centre
For clothing, books, and soft items, visit our donation station wall on the second floor, located on the Falcon Square side across from H&M. You can also donate baby items on the ground floor of Boots, next to the tills at their Halo baby station.
Collection Service
If you have larger items that need to be collected or if you’re unable to get to any of our drop-off locations, don’t worry—we can help! Simply get in touch with us, and we’ll arrange a collection.
Every child deserves a chance to thrive, and every family deserves to feel supported. It’s heartbreaking to know that so many people in our local communities are struggling with poverty, but together, we can make a difference.
If you would like to donate new items, you can order directly from our Amazon Wishlist, and your gift will be sent straight to our Halo HQ. Alternatively, you can make a donation via our JustGiving to help us continue our work.
Thank you for your kindness.
