We’re looking for a warm, approachable and passionate person to join the Halo team as our new Bright Futures Development Officer.
Bright Futures is Halo’s peer support programme for young mums under 25 and their babies. We currently run weekly groups in Inverness and Alness, with mums travelling from surrounding areas to join us.
The details
Role: Bright Futures Development Officer
Salary: £15 p/h
Hours: Part-time, Scottish term-time only – 15 hours per week across 39 working weeks per year
Contract: Permanent
Location: Inverness and Alness, with travel between the two group locations
Closing date: 31 August 2026
This role is based across Halo’s Highland premises, with home and community working and travel between Inverness and Alness.
About the role
As our Bright Futures Development Officer, you’ll work alongside our Project Lead to support the day-to-day running of the groups.
You’ll help plan and deliver weekly sessions, prepare activities for mums and their babies, welcome new members and build relationships with the young women who attend.
You’ll also have the opportunity to listen to the mums themselves and help shape the programme around what they actually want and need.
This isn’t a role where you’ll be working behind a desk all day. You’ll be directly involved with our groups, getting to know the mums and babies we support and helping create a welcoming environment where everyone feels comfortable.
What we’re looking for
Essential:
- Experience working with young parents, children or families in a support, youth work or early years setting
- Understanding of the issues facing young parents and families experiencing hardship
- Warm, confident interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with group members
- Experience of planning and delivering group activities or sessions
- Ability to work independently and travel between Alness and Inverness
- Understanding of safeguarding and GDPR requirements in a charity setting
Desirable:
- Experience in the charity or third sector
- Experience of peer support or group-based programme delivery
- Full, current driving licence and access to a vehicle
Why join Halo?
Halo is a Highland charity supporting children, families and young mums across our communities.
Bright Futures is about more than a weekly group. It’s about creating a safe space where young mums can build confidence, develop friendships and feel supported as they navigate motherhood.
If you’re someone who loves working with people, believes in the power of community and wants to make a genuine difference to young families across the Highlands, we would love to hear from you.
